CBI Pollitical and Religion game

The Ishrat Jahan encounter case has had its fair share of trouble in the political circles. However today a war has broken out between the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Intelligence Bureau following the naming of Rajinder Singh an IB official in the case as an accused.
The Bharatiya Janata Party in particular has taken objection to the naming of this officer and has very often criticised the CBI of politicising the issue. Both Narendra Modi and Arun Jaitley have criticised the CBI action and the agency does not appear to be too pleased.
We have only built a case based on the evidence that we have gathered and would prosecute anyone who is involved in the case, an officer with the Central Bureau of Investigation toldrediff.com. The major evidence we have on hand is the involvement of some IB officers who had allegedly provided weapons for this fake encounter, the officer also pointed out. We are not shooting in the dark and are confident that our case is genuine and strong, the officer also pointed out.
Many in the Intelligence Bureau have however not taken too kindly this development and say that if officers are implicated for giving out inputs then the job ahead becomes very tough. There is no doubt about the input that was given. The input suggested that some Lashkar-e-Tayiba members had planned on assassinating Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi. The role of the IB is to provide an input and not order an encounter, the IB officer pointed out. Why is there an argument about Ishrat Jahan’s antecedents when the FBI investigation of David Headley clearly states that she was a Lashkar operative. Hence the argument questioning whether she was part of the Lashkar or not should not be discussed as it is a closed matter and the IB has acted on very specific input.
There are other IB officials who feel that an investigation should be conducted in case of a doubt. However a lot of care ought to be taken and false charges should not be thrown as it could act as a deterrent in future cases where inputs have to be given. Nothing should lead to the credibility of the IB being lost. Some inputs are spot on while others are vague in nature and it is up to the law enforcement agencies who have operational powers to work on the intelligence, the officer also pointed out.
The CBI however is trying to avoid any sort of confrontation and says it would stick to the basics and depend only on the facts of the case and the evidence that it has collected. It has however decided to complain to the Gujarat High Court regarding the political statements in the case and point out that it would affect the investigation. The CBI is also tapping the door of the Prime Minister and seeks his intervention into this case as the matter appears to be blowing out of proportion.
